Extensions

Do I need hair extensions for my wedding hair?

Nikki & Georgia, Couture Bridal Hair · 19 August 2026

It is one of the most common questions we get, and the honest answer is that plenty of brides do not need them at all.

Extensions are a tool, not a requirement. Whether they help depends entirely on your own hair and on the style you have chosen.

When they tend to help

  • You want noticeably more length than your hair currently has
  • A soft, full finish is wanted but the hair is fine or fairly light
  • The style needs structure or bulk to hold its shape — a large updo, for example

When they usually are not needed

If your hair already has the length and density the style needs, adding hair rarely improves it. Simpler shapes on thick hair are often better left alone.

Decide at the trial, not before

The trial is the point at which this is worth deciding. We can see how your hair behaves, try the style, and judge whether anything is actually missing.

Where extensions are used, clip-ins can be fitted, blended and cut to suit the chosen hairstyle so the join does not read in photographs. Comfort matters too — it should not feel heavy or pull across the day.

Extension options are set out on our services and pricing page, and we will always tell you if we think you do not need them.
